Greek-Egypt– Cyprus
Athens seeks a clear record on issues of maritime zones in the Cairo Declaration, as it considers that it is crucial, for the same issue. This reference to "Step" diplomatic sources, as the final hours peak consultations on the finalization of the text adopted at the tripartite summit of Greece – Egypt – Cyprus which will be held on Saturday November 8 in the Egyptian capital. The draft has been sent to the three capitals and service agents are working on this.
However is clear, insist on the same sources, that there will be no announcements or dramatic developments in the context of Athens – Cairo bilateral negotiations on the issue of maritime zones. Lately, the climate shows to improve on this issue, but the complexity does not allow jumps from one day to another. However, in recent months has paid substantial and well-thought-out effort by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the issue of delimitation of maritime zones.
The information indicates, however, that one of the issues that will put the Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras to the Egyptian leadership is that Greece is the street that can unite Egypt Europe and essentially the acquisition of common marine boundaries of Greece – Egypt coincides with the common boundaries of Egypt – Europe. Cairo has also appreciated the support of Athens (but also of Nicosia) within the European Union (EU).
