Great turmoil, wonderful situation

Sitting relaxed in 28C of the Airbus at a height 10km dawn on July 7, Alexis Tsipras at the informal briefing for the official visit to China, was expressing the famous saying of Mao, “Great turmoil, wonderful situation”.

Most of the journalists analyzed the dictum of Mao Zedong as an effort by Alexis Tsipras to cause turbulence in the political arena or in the opposition, either with changes in the electoral law with the introduction of simple proportional representation that was to be brought in the House for vote, either with the tender for the new television licenses, either by calling for early elections. These were the scenarios that accompanied the dictum with dozens of pages having been written about it.

From the result, none of what was written had any substance. The sum of the analyses empty of content, each one separately and all together fell by the wayside.

A few days after the Brexit and immediately after a highly successful visit to China for the Greek Prime Minister, the agenda had to be changed in a bid to escape from introversion and isolators and pass on to extroversion, in a troubled and shaken Europe, there was need for initiatives.

Holding a strong hand – the full disposal of China on cooperation and the divisive nagging becoming stronger within Europe – a great turmoil could have created a wonderful situation.

Potential alliances existed. Common problems, economy, refugees, security was the missing link. But there was need of an institutional framework for all this to come to fruition. Yet there was one – the Med Group – the informal EU institution which had met three times until September 9 at the level of Foreign Ministers. Nobody could blame Alexis Tsipras for acting disruptively. And behold, in this informal EU institution coexist Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Cyprus and Malta. The first meeting of the EU Med was a fact.

A great turmoil, which broke from Northern Europe and especially from Germany. Great things that can happen in Bratislava.

The agenda now exists. The Athens Declaration became an advisory text and was adopted  almost in its entirety by Jean Claude Juncker. Donald Tusk on his part expresses conservatism and the logic that for Europe to move forward all the fears of the partners must be met.

What expresses Eastern conservatism relates firstly to internal security and the security of their external borders and secondly to the economic model of globalized economy the Easterners desire. Values completely differentiated by the values and logic of traditional Europe.

In the informal summit in Bratislava, Alexis Tsipras goes holding the joint statement of the Declaration of Athens positions. Dominant points for the Greek Prime Minister are according to information of IBNA:

Security: The upgrade of Europe as an international force, rather than a regional one, to become through concrete actions safe for its citizens.

Immigration/Refugee: The management of the refugee problem through European legislation. Ensuring external borders with cooperation with neighboring countries, assistance to countries that experience tensions and revision of the Dublin Treaty.

Economy: Growth, flexibility in the Stability Pact, strengthening of the Jun

Certainly things will not be easy in Bratislava, but this time the Greek Prime Minister will not be alone.
