Τhe world’s largest solar-powered boat,“MS TuranorPlanetSolar”, will arrive in Greece on August 1 to participate in a joint archaeological project which will lead to the underwater exploration of one of Europe’s oldest human occupation sites, theFranchthi cave in the Argolid, southeast Peloponnese.
This new expedition is the fruit of joint cooperation between Switzerland’s Latenium archaeology museum, the Greek Ministry of Culture (Department of Underwater Antiquities), the Swiss School of Archaeology in Greece, and the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research.
The project aspires to explore and inform the public on the prehistoric landscapes submerged in the Argolic Gulf in Greece. Scientists will identify possible opportunities to reconstitute these landscapes and perhaps detect traces of human activity.
