New magical pictures from the excavation in Amphipolis coming in publicity to enchant everyone once again. According to the Ministry of culture and ankoinwsi the photos were made public the new amazing eyrima is the head of one of the two Sphinxes.

The excavation work is continuing on the CAY Ephorate of prehistoric and classical antiquities in Tumulus Kasta, Amphipolis. Saturday (18/10) and Monday (20/10) the excavation proceeded across the surface inside the fourth area (4, 5Ch6m) and at a depth of up to 5.20 m from the top of the dome.

Today, conducted trial section (2Ch2m.), at the entrance of the fourth site, and at a depth of 0, 45 m. In front of the entrance, in this space, uncovered two sections, from the Western door wing, which synanikoyn (Photo 1,2). Also, it was revealed in the northern part of the marble threshold, which has a total length of 2, 15 m. width 1, 6 m. and thickness 0, 25 m. As can be seen from this intersection, here there was floored by limestone, which bore white coating. Across the threshold identified in place, travertines of flooring.

On the East side of the intersection the floor seems to have suffered subsidence, while to the West the flooring is damaged and the fallen stones inside the intersection (Photo 4).

In depth 0, 15 m. from the threshold surface identified and uncovered marble Sphinx head. (Photo 5, 6, 7, 8) Are intact with minimal breakage in the nose. Has a height of 0,60 m head identified and attributed to the eastern foot of trunk, where they were nested. Directed towards the entrance and bring pole. In the lower part of the neck is preserved intact the cross-sectional area of the bearing to the point of nesting in the trunk.
