Meet Millie, the newest addition to George and Amal’s family.

It’s easy to imagine that George and Amal Clooney live a life in which they can snap their fingers and things just appear. (George brings out two plates of salmon for dinner. “But I was really in the mood for chicken,” Amal mutters. And, just like that, George snaps his fingers, and the fish transforms before their eyes.) It seems wild to think of them using the Internet, or opening a piece of mail, or trying to clean off a counter with a paper towel.

So it’s somewhat amusing to find out that, when these two decide they want a dog, they don’t, like, call the president and ask for a personal recommendation from Bo, or pick one up from a private island off the coast of Europe that can only be accessed by a private underwater tunnel. No, they, like anyone else would, scrolled through Petfinder, saw a picture of a basset hound they liked, and went to pick her up.
Per the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society, George and Amal adopted a four-year-old basset hound that they had seen a picture of online. Her name is Millie, and she is marked by “gorgeous looks . . . googly eyes, pretty long ears, and shorty legs.” The dog had been found “hoping for food scraps outside of a local restaurant in San Gabriel earlier this month.” (Someone should make a movie about this dog!!! From Nothing at All to . . . Amal!) George and Amal reportedly did a “meet and greet” with Millie, and introduced her to their other rescue dog, Louie (a cocker spaniel), to make sure the vibes were good. All went swimmingly, and the Clooneys brought Millie home. (“You guys, you will NOT BELIEVE WHO JUST ADOPTED ME, this is honestly the weirdest,” Millie no doubt immediately texted all of her friends.)
