Four U.S. destroyers – Stout, Gravely, Barry, and Ramage – are now located in the Mediterranean Sea, in addition to amphibious ship USS San Antonio. Russia’s naval build-up in the Eastern Mediterranean is continuing,
and the destroyer Admiral Panteleyev will now serve as the command HQ of the task force. Meanwhile both France and Italy have ships in the region. The Italians have the destroyer Andrea Doria, which could evacuate Italians in case violence spikes.
