Jülide Yazıcı Free

Jülide Yazıcı, a student in the Philosophy Department in Boğaziçi University who was active on social media supporting academics threatened by the Turkish government, was arrested two days ago.
According to one source, she was charged with “being a member of an armed terrorist organisation” and “spreading terrorist propaganda.” The specifics of the accusations are unknown to her because the details of “terror cases” are kept secret. She is currently in jail and is expected to be so until her trial.  Two other students and one recent graduate from the university were also arrested.

''Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Felsefe bölümü 1. sınıf öğrencisi Jülide Yazıcı,  27 Ocak Çarşamba günü evinin polislerce aranmasının ardından nöbetçi mahkeme tarafından 29 Ocak günü tutuklandı.
Dosyada gizlilik kararı olması nedeniyle tutuklamanın gerekçesi tarafımızca bilinmemektedir. Avukatıyla beraber ifade vermeye kendisi gitmiş olmasına rağmen hiçbir delili ya da gerekçeyi göstermeksizin arkadaşımızı tutukladılar. Sürece dair bildiğimiz tek şey şu an Bakırköy Kapalı Kadın Cezaevi'ne nakledildiğidir.
Jülide haksızlıklara karşı duran, barışı, işçileri, kadınları savunan ve omuz omuza mücadele ettiğimiz arkadaşımızdır. Bu haksız tutukluluğun sona ermesini talep ediyor ve herkesi dayanışmaya çağırıyoruz. Arkadaşımız özgürlüğüne kavuşana ve yeniden aramıza dönene kadar sürecin takipçisi olacağız.

Because of the decision of privacy of the court file we do not know what the reason of imprisonment is. Although she went to give a statement to prosecution office with her lawyer, our friend has been arrested without any reason and or evidence. The only thing we know about the process is that she has been transferred to Bakırköy Closed Prison.
Jülide is our friend who opposes injustices, defends peace, workers and women. She is our friend who struggles with us shoulder to shoulder. We demand to end this unjust imprisonment and ask to everyone for solidarity. We are going to be follow the case until our friend join us again and win her freedom.''
