Navarino Environmental Observatory (NEO), located at Costa Navarino in Messinia, is a Swedish supported center for research and education on climate and environment of the Mediterranean region. Ambassador Charlotte Wrangberg visited NEO Friday last week and met Professor and NEO Director Karin Holmgren, Ph. D Håkan Berg and NEO station manager Giorgos Maneas.
The program included a visit to the NEO-center at Costa Navarino in Messinia and a presentation of various research fields for example in Gialova lagoon and the atmospheric laboratory in Methoni.
NEO is a cooperation between #StockholmUniversity, #AcademyOfAthens and the Greek company #TEMES
S.A. Established five years ago, after an initiative from Stockholm
University, it now conducts frontline research as well as gives
education and training to graduate students and new researchers.
The different research fields includes: 1) Atmospheric composition and climate changes 2) Geology, geomorphology and landscape changes and 3) Present and past climate, water and environmental changes.
